Tarifa
*The city can easily be reached by train and everything inside the city is easily reachable by foot. However, if you are looking to do watersports or want to enjoy the full Tarifa a car is a necessity. Personally, I will always go to Tarifa by car. You can rent cars there but it's cheaper in Malaga and the ride there is a breeze. If you take the road with toll, there is almost no cars for the most part.
Restaurants
La Pescaderia
Tarifa is renowned for its fresh and delicious seafood. The tuna, caught nearby, is a must-try. La Pescaderia is a great place to taste the seafood. The portions may seem small, but they will definitely satisfy you. The desserts are also tasty, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
El Lola
Located in the heart of the old town, this charming establishment is a must-visit for those seeking delightful tapas or a satisfying meal. With its prime location, it tends to get quite busy in the evenings, so be prepared for a lively atmosphere. Indulge in the authentic flavors of traditional tapas while immersing yourself in the vibrant ambiance. The combination of delicious food, authentic surroundings, and bustling energy make it a memorable dining experience in Tarifa.
Cafés & Bars
Surla
Without a doubt, this brunch spot stands out as one of the best I have ever experienced. From the moment you step inside, you'll be captivated by its incredible decor and ambiance. The friendly staff adds to the overall positive dining experience. Prepare yourself for generous portions that are sure to satisfy even the heartiest appetites. While there may be occasional waiting times, rest assured that the exceptional food and atmosphere make it well worth any patience required.

Picture yourself lounging on the hillside, surrounded by a vibrant crowd of fellow surfers and like-minded individuals. BiBo Beach
Looking for the ultimate surfers' paradise that combines delicious dining and a vibrant beach bar atmosphere? Look no further than this incredible restaurant and beach bar combo. Conveniently located right next to the ION club, it's the perfect spot for post-surf hangouts. Activities
Wind- & Kitesurfing
Tarifa, a windswept haven, beckons kite- and windsurfers from all corners of the world. Along the shoreline, an array of rental stations and schools await, catering to both beginners and experts. LaDuna offers a pleasant windsurfing experience, while ION Club stands out with their exceptional service, albeit at a higher cost. Brace yourself for the occasional choppy waters, but the breathtaking spot is an absolute must-visit for water sports enthusiasts.
Visit Tangier by ferry
A round-trip to Tangier costs around 80 euros and takes approximately 1 hour each way. The city of Tangier exudes beauty, and its Medina is particularly enchanting, with its narrow streets and charming shops. I highly recommend dining at AHLEN, a restaurant known for its delicious Tajine and Couscous, where the friendly and accommodating service will make your experience memorable. While Tangier can be overwhelming at first, with persistent touts seeking your attention, it's important to note that staying in well-populated areas should ensure your safety and enjoyment of the city.
Whale watching
I highly recommend choosing a responsible whale watching provider such as firmm, a Swiss research organization. Their tours cost around 45 euros per person. While you will definitely see dolphins, please note that the presence of whales, particularly Orcas, is more prominent during their peak season. Further the boat is rather small and if you are prone to sea sickness you will get it. Three of the four of us got it and we suffered for almost the full cruise. So be aware!
Beach hangouts
Tarifa offers a variety of fantastic beach bars and hangouts where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing drink or two. In my experience, the further you head towards Punta Paloma, the more charming the hangouts become. However, Waiki Beach near the port is also a delightful spot worth visiting.
Spots
Duna de Valdevaqueros
This spot is perfect for spending an evening or even the night, as it offers a breathtaking view of the stars and the city lights. The tranquility and relaxed atmosphere on the dune make it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
