Cafés, Bars & Nightlife
Noorderlicht Café
Café in the area of NDSM. Great café/bar to vibe, have some Bitterballen and drink Jenever (which apparently people from the Netherlands do not actually drink). They also have a fireplace and it just has a great vibe there.
Brouwerij't IJ
The brewery offers tours and has a bar. Ask the bartender for the offer, which let's you taste 5 different beers. It is best to go in the early afternoon as it can get crowded.
Melkweg
Looks excactly like the club in GTA V. They have DJ's and sometimes bigger concerts. Very cool club and you will have a great time.
AIR Amsterdam
They sometimes have Hip-Hop Concerts if you are into that it can be really fun.
Activities
Get a bicycle
One of the first things you should do in Amsterdam is rent a bike for the duration of your stay. It's an absolute must. Consider getting insurance so you won't have to worry about your bike being stolen or encountering any issues.
NXT Museum
If you have an affinity for modern and interactive art, this museum is a must-visit. It features captivating light shows that replicate the vastness of the universe and exhibits that demonstrate the workings of AI surveillance. In my opinion, it is one of the finest museums I have ever had the pleasure of exploring, if not the absolute best.
Naval museum
If you're seeking a more traditional museum experience, this one is quite enjoyable and laid-back. It offers a serene atmosphere where you can appreciate the exhibits at your own pace. It's a nice option if you're looking to explore another museum during your visit.
Red light district
Amsterdam is renowned for its Red Light District, and as a tourist, you can take a leisurely stroll through this area. It's an interesting sight to behold, but it's important to be respectful, refrain from taking pictures, and go with the flow of the bustling crowd. Additionally, there is a sex museum available, which can be an amusing visit, although not essential.
Vliegenbos
If you prefer an alternative to Airbnb (they are very expensive in Amsterdam) or seek a more budget-friendly option, consider staying at Camping Vliegenbos. It offers various accommodations such as tent spaces or cozy wooden homes. By utilizing bicycles, you can easily reach the city center while enjoying the tranquility of Vliegenbos. The campsite provides all necessary amenities, including a shared kitchen for your convenience.
Moco museum
If you have an appreciation for the arts, Moco Museum is a must-visit. It showcases an impressive collection of modern art, including works by renowned artists such as Banksy and Dalì. I personally found the exhibition to be highly impressive and captivating.
Spots
A'DAM Lookout
The entrance fee for the lift to the top is on the higher side. However, the experience is worth it as you get to enjoy a stunning view while sipping on a refreshing beer. The ambiance is particularly enchanting during sunset, making it an ideal time to visit and relax.
Vondelpark
This activity is a must-do when in Amsterdam. Take a leisurely bike ride around Vondelpark and find a cozy spot to relax and enjoy some food or drinks. While there is a cafe inside the park, it's recommended to bring your own food from a supermarket and have a delightful picnic amidst the park's serene surroundings.
Waterspot
It offers a great ambiance where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy a few cold beers.
NDSM
One of the most underrated areas in Amsterdam is NDSM. It boasts cool scenery, a plethora of great bars and restaurants, and an incredible vibe. Whether you choose to reach NDSM by bike or take the ferry, you're in for a treat. Explore this hidden gem and discover its unique charm for yourself.
